was questioning the windows 10 on mac mini for a bit but then realized oh yeah most bbses are very dos centric so it makes sense
synchronet isnt my favorite bbs package and dos/ansi bbses arent generally my preference anyways (i typically go for more ascii or cp/m types)
i have messed around with syncrhonet in the past though so this is reasonably familiar the main issue is the ctrl+c bind doesnt work while in games or The Guru (i got stuck in the guru for a bit i didnt know how to leave and had to reconnect lol)
anyways yeah idk hi

Hey M,
Yea, that "GURU" hung me up a few times as well. I think simply saying "Bye" (no quotes) works. It did for me last time I checked it out.
I use to run Widcat! 5 BBS just before the Internet went "public" back in the late 80's to about '95 with muti-node POTS dial-up. Once the Internet arrived people stopped dialing up BBS and they faded away a bit and I eventually shut the system down. I was actually working for the ISP at this point and dived head first into the Internet and getting people hooked up around the state (we had dial-ups everywhere). Anyway...
Recently BBS's are making a big comeback so I wanted to give it ago again. I spent 3 months trying every BBS out there and I picked Synchronet because = it's still being worked by its original creator, from the 80's and is still being developed, and its has everything you need built in. Even connects to other BBS to pickup and dump global messages. Currently I'm connected to DOVE-NET and will be working FIDO-NET and a few others. Look in the messages area and pick DOVE-NET. You can post to them and respond and you will get replies. My system exchanges messages 4 times a day.
As for getting out of things. "Q" usually works everywhere even on the door games.
I'm also running a Commodore BBS on the same computer on port 6400 called "CyberDyne". Gotta set your term for PETSCII and 40 column. MuffinTerm can do that easily. It's the same address as here. I have a lot more work to do on that and it is slow at 38400 baud max speed - but hey, it's a Commodore 64 (actually Vice 64) and 40 year old technology. LOL
