I like to go to the chat section and open up inter-bbs instant messaging. It gives me a good idea of how active boards are through out the day..I noticed it has been dead af this weekend lol. Or at least Synchronet boards have been. I notice some boards that are listed on Synchronet bbs list that are never listed in the inter-bbs instant messaging. That means their boards never have any users on them. They are basically dead. I used to have a guy who ran a bbs called Mojo's world. He was connected to my old qwk message network called Starr-net. His board is still up and running. I decided to visit it and he hasn't had a single user get online since 2024. That's really bad. The thing is, he never advertises, and hasn't changed anything on the bbs since the 2010s.

    ...This tagline's just for you.

Wow! If you don't tell people about your BBS you won't get anyone calling in. Plus, you gotta always freshen things up AND most of all, visit other systems to connect with sysops and other users and direct them to your bbs. Back at home base, there's got be a reason why people want to come back to your bbs - that sometimes is the hardest things to figure out. Everyone has doors games, everyone has Dove-Net, everyone has ANSI art, retro computer files, operating systems etc, a lot of them have FidoNet, that's been around before the internet, and other FTN's. So what makes our BBS so special and what do we need to do more? What sets us aside from everyone else. I'm trying out a regional type thing revolved around my state name and music. I recently added state based interests. Still thinking of others things. I gotta grab them when they first arrive, right? LOL May not even work.

Also, I'm still new to the inter-bbs Im thingy. Isn't it possible a lot of folks haven't opened up the needed ports in their router to allow the communications between systems to show user status making them seem dead? I have just about every port open for this BBS for all inter-comms and services to work.
