Hello All!

I'm taking this opportunity to announce a small release of my FTN editor, a Golded+-style editor with a few new features, and to see if anyone else is interested in trying it out and helping me test it. I've been using it for a few weeks now, and the jam component is stable.

It has the standard features, as I mentioned in another message, and I've recently added a nodelist and a quick search function for areas, in addition to the built-in search.

And as a bonus, a very lightweight text editor in UTF-8 with options to convert to other character sets—nothing too complicated, using the code from the previous program.

I've tested both on BSD, Linux, Windows, and Amigaos. So far, it's quite stable.

If anyone decides to try it and wants to report bugs or add features, I'll be here.

And if not, well, there's always another editor! :D

One more thing, I still need to test a bit more: some small utilities for Binkd that I modified with Auto NR-mode on incomplete files, NC_flag (no-compression per node), and no-call-delay config keywords.

- process_tic: Processes FTN .tic files from inbound to filebox
- nodelist: FidoNet nodelist compiler for Binkd

It wouldn't be bad, with a small backup I have lying around. It'll look like a toy because of the colors, but it can be customized. I've focused more on robustness and avoiding memory leaks and jam corruption as much as possible than on the GUI.

Good way to go. When I was in college, one of my instructors told us,

"Make it work, then make it pretty."

And it's difficult. Right now I'm working on some things in the editor that I still need to do and fixing some bugs. Almost everything is implemented, I think. The only thing missing is the "amigaos" part, with the TTF fonts to have true UTF-8.


... 640K ought to be enough for anybody.

It's simple:

make cleanlinux && make linux && make -f crashedit/Makefile.unix clean && make -f crashedit/Makefile.unix

If you don't use crashmail, you don't need it. The editor uses the jamlib library statically. Creating it from scratch would take ages.

The executable is created in crashmail/bin

If you run crashedit without arguments, look for crashedit.conf in the current directory.

Shift S in area list for setup.

Right now, as I mentioned in another message, I'm working with the text editor. As for the rest, I've overlooked some aspects of the interface, besides the fact that it's awful, and the keyboard shortcuts... Someday I'll have to organize them more practically... XD
