    Posting this because ?I seem to recall you are a ham radio operator.

    Made my first official gmrs contsact when testing out my radio to
    see if i have it set correctly to transmit.
    Am going to try again from home tomorrow , but using high power
    instead.

    Is a first contact for a ham operator about the same experience?

    It's something you'll always remember. My first DX (long-distance) contact was my stepfather here in Johnson City when I was living in Douglasville, Georgia.
