• Promoting Nixnet

From Javier Sturman@86:700/10 to All on Monday, July 06, 2026 18:34:46

    Hello everybody!

I tried to promote Nixnet FTN in the BSDNow Telegram group but it was rejected because it seems sketchy to download a zip file. I can't argue with that.
Are there any other entry points to join Nixnet?

It is sketchy for those not young enough to remember BBSing.

To answer your question, no. You must fill out the node app and send it to Andrew. He modeled NixNet's setup similar to my FTN network, Micronet, and I've been doing the ZIP file for 26 years.

If someone has a problem with the way we do things, that's their problem,
    not ours. :)

If they don't like extracting the file on their computer, there exist sites like extract.me or zip.zerodataupload.com and many more where they can see the contents and find the application textform. Or maybe you can unpack the zip and telegram the text-files individually? My chrome browser also threw a false alert on the zipfile and i had to click 'keep' to save it after download.

    Kudos for promoting Nixnet!

The problem I think it's that they're aren't old enough to have experienced that.

Have you tried promoting it in Irc?

I used the ad from othernet as a base for the message I sent to the Telegram group.

    That's what I mant. I don't know why I said what I did. I guess I was overly tired.

I haven't used IRC in years, honestly.
