I don't know if it's just me. I am starting to notice a large discrepancy, in the amount of software available for linux. Especially, in ubuntu. Their software manager is really lacking. I remember back in the mid 2000s there was plenty of software to find and install from the repository.

You can add other repos easily. What kind of SW you looking for? Or find the deb package and wget it then deb install with sudo dpkg -i package.deb

I installed the old software repository, and couldn't find any of the cool stuff I used to use. Back in the day, I always found software to play around with.
