The messages you seem to have lost is still sitting on my HobbySPC QWK areas.
I wonder how we can restore them to yours?

Also, whatever I did to wipe out all the FidoNet config files and stuff seems to have fixed the QWK packet exchange between us. Works as it should now....I think. LOL

BTW - I now have 512 message subs for FidoNet completely empty and now have to wait for new messages to slowly trickle in. :( Lost a few grand of messages I got over month. Oh well.

I don't know what the problem is I'm trying everything..I looked to see if synchronet purges messages for any reason during maint. and those options are turned off...im getting very annoyed

I reached out to Dove-Net in the Synchronet Discussions about an error I was getting and Rob Swindell responded pretty quick and fixed my issue. Maybe you can ask if you can merge identical message ares from another bbs to yours to replace this missing messages?

That really sucks! What if they were your posts, and you put a lot of thought in each message?

Oh I know. I'm reluctant to request help as well and work on things for days before I give up a risk flamed on Dove. I always cringe when I hit that "submit" button - LOL!!

I think it may have removed some of my messages, what forum did you post to about advertising on telnet bbs guide? I can't find that message. I ended up posting on dove-net to see if anyone has any ideas.

I have noticed some messages you posted were in weird places on my system and didn't think much about it to now. The following messages were posted by you in these areas on my system. I haven't compared them on your system yet but maybe there's an issues with the "Networked" messages not aligning correctly? The messages should still not get deleted from your system if this is the case. Maybe the area list and internal codes are wrong on my side? I'll try to get a list of the subs on my side, along with the internal prefix and network conf#s later today.

A conclusion that, my sbbs install is borked..A lot of little things are showing up over the months that seem to be pointing, to an bad install. I hope this isn't the case...I am hoping, that it's not the case. I would have to not do an update, but probably, reinstall the whole thing. My letsyncrypt is broken, since I changed dns. I have exhausted every option. It just isn't going to be able to be fixed. My bbs is not generating a control.dat file, which is tied to qwk network hosting, and conference numbers. That should have been generated right after install, when I did the configuration wizard...

File is called ""Hobby-Space QWK Network.xlsx.zip" and it's in the directory called "BBS". That's the directory name when ya FTP in. That version XLS is incorrect.

Also, do you actually allow guest access to download files? I turned mine off and people need a 60 access (validated user) level to get into the file areas. Certainly cut down on FTP traffic - LOL

Sometimes you just have to start from scratch again and it REALLY sucks! I did that a few times as I was learning SBBS cause I would mess it up. Even upgrades are tough because as you mod the board, add art work and such and other things, when you upgrade you have to remember what mod'd files to put back, but then your worried putting an old file back in may break the system.
I just recently upgraded to 3.21e and was a little bit of a pain. I think I'm gonna stay on the version for a while unless something awesome is introduced in a new version.

Are you running on Linux or Windows?

mine is cut on for various reasons..some people leave theirs on some don't lol

As far as I can tell it now working perfect and no errors. Look like my networked sub-groups #'s for HobbySPC was slightly off. Basically the LOUNGE was 1st instead of being 5th. Once I swapped it from 3001 to 3005 and renumbered the other top 4 it was fine. I know you are missing some posts on your side but I have them, I think. I wonder if I move them to another area if they will come back on your side. I'd hate to try anything that will mess your side up.

well sir, i fixed it then...i had to chuser and go to your qwkmessage username and go to configure, and turn on control.dat and headers.dat...i also turned on voting poles and word wrapping...after that things started working muahaha

ummm can you re post them? or copy and paste... yeah you changing that conference number might have fixed something, but i know for a fact that control.dat and headers.dat keep track of conference numbers and was the main issue...i thought that was setup already by default when the user made the qwk account..i guess things change when updates come out..i really hate it when i get all the stuff on my board setup and a new update comes out lol
