Many plants are a lot smarter than people give them credit for.
There are some trees where, if some animal starts to eat one of them,
any other similar trees near by make a change and produce chemicals
to make their leaves more bitter. I saw something as well where they
said that trees close enough to each other for their roots to touch
can share nutrients with neighbours under certain conditions.
