• JAM utilities

    From Nick Boel@1:154/700 to Fidonet.FIDOSOFT.HUSKY,Fidonet.FMAI on Saturday, May 02, 2026 08:02:05
    Hello All,

Not sure exactly where to write this, but these seem to be the best two places I can think of as both husky and fmail seem to have the best handling and utilities for JAM message areas.

I'm not looking to publish results of this or anything, as posting names is a bit too personal, but..

Does anyone know of a JAM utility that can pull statistics out of message bases in regards to /who/ has posted messages and how many they have posted while possibly even creating a list of "top posters" or something in that regard?

    Regards,
    Nick

    I don't know any, but I haven't looked. ;-)

And I can't imagine someone in the previous century hasn't already create such a util. ;-)
But it will probably be a binary (DOS) release without source, as was common in those days. So not very usefull...

I did write some python code that does things with JAM message bases (as did others). It would probably be not so difficult (with help of AI), to create some stats generating program from that. But that is up to you, if you have the time... ;-)

    Bye, Wilfred.

I have a script that works well with fmail but uses unpacked packet placed in a folder, the report it gives is :
