What is new in FidoMail Mobile 0.1.8+89:
Charsets:
- Replies now use the original message's charset, as long as it can
represent every character you typed. A reply to a LATIN-1 post in a
CP866 echo goes out in LATIN-1, a reply to a KOI8-R post in KOI8-R,
and a reply to a UTF-8 post in UTF-8. If that charset lacks the
characters you need (say, Cyrillic in reply to a CP437 post), the
app uses the echo's charset, as before. The composer shows a note
below the message header when this happens. On by default; turn it
off under Settings -> "Reply in the original message's charset".
- Netmail follows the same rule. Mail received in UTF-8 gets a UTF-8
reply. The "Send in UTF-8" box is already ticked; you can still
untick it. Mail received in an 8-bit charset gets a reply in that
charset, or plain ASCII if the whole reply is 7-bit.
- Only the sender's declared charset counts. If the original has no
CHRS kludge, the reply uses your echo's charset, regardless of
which charset the app used to decode it.
PING:
- PING replies now have their own Via lines (FTS-4009). The arrival
line goes at the end of the quoted Via chain in the message text;
the departure line goes in the reply as a kludge. Both carry your
point address and a UTC timestamp. The reply is saved in Sent.
Mail exchange:
- Netmail routed through MBSE had an extra blank line above the
text for every kludge. mbfido ends lines with LF CR; the app now
treats adjacent CR and LF, in either order, as a single line break.
