Yes, if Iran keeps it up they will likely run into attacks involving
Boots on the Ground. It's easier to defy Trump's tactics since he
wants to do all his attacks remotely, bombs rather than bodies,
but Iran's neighbouring countries are more likely to send troops
since it is closer and they are a much nearer target for Iran to hit.

Yes, if Iran keeps it up they will likely run into attacks involving

wants to do all his attacks remotely, bombs rather than bodies,
but Iran's neighbouring countries are more likely to send troops
since it is closer and they are a much nearer target for Iran to hit.

My thoughts. The countries in that area all have beefs with Iran regarding their (sometimes violent) actions that predate even the beginning of Trump's first term. IMHO, they seem to want others (like the US) to do something about it rather than acting on it themselves.

If we have a widespread diesel shortage get ready for the prices of
EVERYTHING to go. Aviation kerosene will be next, followed by gas,
than heating oil.
Gonna be an interesting winter.

Especially considering that home heating oil is just Diesel under
another name.. Literally. An old friend of mine who worked for
one of the big oil companies told us that Heating Oil and Diesel
Fuel come out of the same storage tank, just sold under different
names. Another friend bought large quantities of heating oil and
then used it to fuel his Diesel Pickup truck because, without the
'Road Tax' on it, it was much cheaper.

The work involved processing Diesel is less complex than for Gasoline
so it should really be cheaper.. but it may be as above, if you make
Diesel more expensive the cost of heating oil goes up and more people
stop heating their homes with it, or installing oil furnaces in new
homes.. Is it all linked to anti-pollution / global warming?

Around farm country out here, they sell "off road" diesel, meant for
farm equipment. Apparently it's dyed, but I don't know how you could
tell once it's in your tank...

Yes, supply and demand has something to do with it for sure, but I suspect it is something else also. As Kurt pointed out, the conversion to lower-sulphur diesel happened during the timeframe I am remembering, which also caused the price to go up some.

IIRC, that was part of the reason they (government and probably car manufacturers) were trying to encourage people to migrate to diesel back when it was cheaper.

That was also part of migrating to natural gas for home heat. Once enough people switched over, demand went up and natural gas was not longer quite as attractive when it came to cost savings. Several years ago, I had to replace an outside AC unit (at my old house) and chose to get a heat pump unit put in so that I could take advantage of "duel-fuel" heating... when the temperatures were not too cold, it was more cost-effective to heat the house with electric. When it got too cold for the outside unit to run efficiently, the system would switch to natural gas.

It would have paid for itself if I had stayed there another 5 years or so.

They do that here also, but IIRC here it is called farm diesel.
